True agility Spans More Than Management Practices

25 Oct 2018

I know agile practices shouldn’t really be grouped, but with our goal here of “zero bugs” I think there is a lot more to it than just focusing on some aspects. We need all of our (and the industries cutting edge) practices, processes and technologies aligned to be able to get the best from any of them.

As ever, I am just regurgitating the thoughts and preachings of people way brighter than I will ever be. As this diagram (I think from Uncle Bob?) shows, you get the benefit when the practices are used in unity, not on their own.

So in trying to asses areas we are stronger (and our potential focus points) I tried to list many agile practices which I think are important and group them slightly to highlight those areas. I also included the eXtreme Programming practices due to my personal opinion that a lot those practices are the ones we need to be more truly agile (and because I think the whole industry is gravitating that way due to its benefits)

I then went on to print this is out and just have a stab (blatantly wrong) at highlighting where I think we are doing well, have made some progress, or haven’t done anything. This was only my personal opinion and so definitely massively open to discussion.

Anyway, as ever this may well be useless but if it helps one person pick an area they are going to try and improve upon then it’s been of use
